A lot of guests come to Carrington House to escape the rigors of the weekly grind and the hustle and bustle of metropolitan life. If that's your objective then Carrington House can offer you the perfect escape to renew your mind and body. You can relax in the pool and hot tub or simply retire to the grand porch for an evening with your favorite book or to take-in the diverse wildlife.

On the other hand, if you're in the mood for some adventure then we also have a wide range of activities for you. You're just 20 minutes away from two of the country's best theme parks with Sea World and Six Flags Fiesta Texas in San Antonio. San Antonio also offers the River walk where you can shop, dine and enjoy the nightlife. If you're into sports you can see the Spurs play during the NBA season.

If you want to experience the Texas Hill Country you have a wide range of options. During the early summer months you can find the Fredericksburg Texas Freestone Peaches ripe for the picking. They're great in pies, cobbler or ice cream. It is a great family outing to visit the orchards and pick your own peaches. You can also venture over to Canyon Lake for a day-trip of water sports and fishing.

To take-in some history of the Texas Hill Country you can visit the Treue Der Union monument. It is the only monument dedicated to the Union other than the National Cemeteries. In 1991, by an act of Congress, permission was granted to fly a period United States flag at half-staff in perpetuity at the site.

Other activities include antique shopping and experiencing the unique wildlife of the Texas Hill Country. You can visit the old bat tunnel which is home to more than 3 million Brazilian Free-Tailed bats. If you're a bird watching fan then you'll keep busy with a wide variety of Wrens, Swallows, Warblers, Vireo, Sparrows, Meadowlarks, Woodpeckers, Thrush, Hawks, Owls and Hummingbirds to name a few.
